We have this woman to thank for many of the computer icons we see today. Susan Kare is an American graphic designer and artist who is best known for her icons, interface elements, and typefaces for the first Apple Macintosh personal computer in the 1980s. She was an original member of the Apple design team. Many of her designs can still be found in modern Apple products to this day. According to Susan Kare, good icons should be efficient like road signs rather than mere illustrations.
